I loved R. J. Anderson's trilogy. I'm generally resistant to stories featuring fairies, having read too many rehashes of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Anderson's fairies are different and thoughtful. I thought she was particularly deft in handling the moral issues. The ethics of fairies may not seem on the surface to have much to do with "regular people," but her characters have a universal appeal. I found her writing to be very much in the spirit of the Inklings: the strong, steady moral world view of a J.R.R. Tolkien with the delights of a Lewis Narnia cast. I checked out the first 2 in this series from my local library audio book collection and couldn't wait for this 3rd volume. Such a nice story when you need a break from the intensities of life!
I purchased this book for my granddaughter's birthday because she asked for it. She enjoyed this fantasy world. I was happy to be able to please her.
I picked this rating because the details of the people and places made you feel you where there. I enjoy all of R.J. Anderson's books and would recommend them for middle school students
This is an excellent second part to the series "not an ordinary fairy story". I liked it a lot and it was full of surprises.
I really enjoyed this series of fantasy books written from a Christian world view. The third book was just as good as the first two!
I should like to read this book to my girls because it was a great story full of twists and turns. Had me laughing and gasping at different moments of the story. I loved all the characters, but I think Thorn is my favorite even though she isn't a main character in the books.
Compared to the previous books in the series I found it flat and predictable but this may be an indication of the previous books quality rather than this ones failure. If read alone it would probably be a good read
